12 Klänge und ein Baum
A set of 12 solar panels are installed in the garden of the Akademie der Künste around a huge old tree. They produce a constantly changing flow of electricity which feeds a series of 12 custom made electronic devices, each connected to a black speaker installed in the treetop. The small electronic modules create sounds which remember natural sounds such as insects or birds. The irregular amount of power produced by the solar panels trigger a lot of complex and constantly varyying sounds: lower or higher, longer or shorter, simpler or more sophisticated. Nature creates an interactive composition which starts early in the morning and fades out gradually at dusk. Maybe some real birds will start to imitate their artificial neighbours or have a discussion with them. Nature meets technology or vice verse.
